ALHZEIMER

Alzheimer it's a progressive disease that destroys the memory and other mental functions because of the deterioration and death of brain neurons. The symptom of this disease are: changes in the personality, changes in the mood, problems for pay attention and in the orientation, low levels in energy, among others. It's the most common form of dementia, it's incurable and terminal. The causes of Alzheimer's are unknown but the most of the time this occurs in elderly people.

I choose this disease because I knew a lot of friends who have family members who suffers this terrible illness and because I think we have to support more the people who are diseased and the family or the people who taking care of him or her.

In itself the Alzheimer it is equally common in all parts of the world but the 60% of the cases of Alzheimer they are in countries with low and middle income.

As Alzheimer's affects neurons, this in turn affects the muscular system and in some more severe cases the cardiorespiratory system.

International Alzheimer's Day is commemorated on September 21, the date was chosen by the WHO and the International Alzheimer's Federation, in which activities are carried out in various countries to raise awareness and help prevent the disease.

The most enjoyable subject

In this semester I really like so much the subject of chemical laboratory techniques, in this subject first we do a theory class about a type of the differents laboratory techniques that there are , for example: distillation, filtration, solutions, etc, then we do the practical part (for me is the best part of the class) when we put into practice what they taught us before.

It's my favorite subject because, every week we do something different from the previous one and also is the kind of subject that has as much theory part as to practice part.

And also this subject it's so important in our future professional life because, when we will be graduates always will have contact with a laboratory, so it's very necessary that from our first year of university we begin to enter in the lab, his instruments, his rules and his precautions.

Marie Curie

One of the most expert on science that I admire is Marie Curie, she was the first person and woman who receiving two Nobel prizes for his works in radioactive energy and the discover of the elements radium and polonium.

She was born in 1867, in Varsovia, Poland and she died in 1934, in Passy, France cause the constant contact she had with radioactive compound. At a very short age she was interested by the biology and chemistry something unusual at the time. Because of the limited opportunities to study in Poland she traveled to Paris, there she study at the Sorbonne, Paris getting a degree in physics and math then she meet her future husband Pierre Curie who was a renowned chemist, they got married and worked together in the laboratory studying the radiation.
Pierre and Marie Curie
She made great contributions to understand the radioactivity also she was the figure of many scientific women to have a space in the scientific community.

I admire her so much because she had to effort every day to be able to reach his goals and dreams just because she was a woman, but that never stopped her.

About love, pets and friendship

Maya and a uncle's dog
My first and only pet it's a Schnauzer called Maya, she is 13 years old and her pelage is grayish. My grandmothers gave it to me when I was 6 years old, I was so excited because every Christmas I asked to my parents but at that time they didn't have much money, so my maternal grandmother go to a animal shelter to look for a puppy and my paternal grandmother buy the puppy's food and a dog collar, that Christmas they traveled to Santiago to give me the most beautiful present.

She is so restless and playful, when my father took the strap to take it out fro a walk she ran through all the apartment of emotion. Every summer we traveled to Arica to see all my family: grandparents, grandmothers, cousins, uncles, aunts, etc and obviously we have to take she with us. When we travel to Arica we stay at the house of my maternal grandparents, she had a lot of fun in my grandparents' house, because my grandmother also have a pet a German shepherd called Tania, both played all day around the house.

One summer my parents decide to leave Maya in my grandparent's house because in there she had more space to play and whit whom to play, I left very sad from my grandparent's house but I knew it was the best for Maya. I miss her every day and even more now.

I love pets because they understand you in a way that sometimes the human cannot and also they know when you more need his love.

The magic of the words

Personally I'm not a good reader, most of the books I were by the school some of them I liked, like: "Mi planta de naranja y lima", "Cuentos de Eva Luna", "Pride and Prejuice", etc. In my last year of school, the teacher of language brought a box full of books, she gave us each one, we had to read it in three weeks and had to do a powerpoint of it. The book that she gave me was: "La tregua" written by Mario Benedetti.

I really love that book, and I think that thanks to this book now I like to read, the story is about Martin Santomé a widower of 49 years old who is close to retirement, he hate his job, his monotonous life and also he had three childrens: Blanca, Jaime and Esteban and he doesn't have a good relationship with them cause job. One day he meet a beautiful young woman in the work, her name is: Laura Avellaneda, Martin feels something for her and little by little she too.

Martin start to like his life now with Laura so much that one day he plans to propose marriage to her, but she doesn't show up to work, he calls to her house and tell him that Laura is sick... I won't count more to not ruin the end. lol

I really recommend this book because it's not so long and it's quick to read, his very realistic, maybe some feel identified and it has an ending that leaves you mixed fellings.

My favorite device

The piece of technology that I like more it's the cellphone, I think it's one of the most incredible technology devices because now you can do everything with it. At the begging you only can call other just like the telephone with the difference that the cellphone was portable but now with the fast progress of the technology you also can, write messages, look up information, take pictures, connect to internet, and more.

At age of 10 my parents bought me my first cellphone, it was a red Nokia, I only want this cellphone for the game that was included with it. One day I took my cellphone to the school to show him to my friends, when I got home I realized that I don't have my cellphone, I went to tell my mom, she punished me and also told me that she wouldn't buy another cellphone until I was bigger.

After that I had three more cellphones, most of them I used to play games like: angrybirds, candycrush, etc, or to chat with my family and friends.

I really use the cellphone most of time especially now because I'm far from my family and my close friends.

I can't even imagine my life with this devices, most of them make our lifes more easier, but we must not abuse their use either.

What do you want to be?

It's a complicated question when you're bigger because there are to many factors to consider but when when you're a child nothing of this have sense, we just dream about the job of our lives.

For example, when I was a child I wanted to be a fireman, then I wanted to be a veterinarian because I love the idea of working in a zoo and take care of the animals in this. I had that before I entered to high school.

During the high school I realized what I really liked: the chemistry, I don't know why but I liked it, a teacher of my school Matías Rioja teach me the base of this subject and also the magic of the Chemistry, the labs, the implements, the experiments and more.

When I finished the high school I had 3 options in my mind: biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences or obstetrics and puericulture but I finally decided for pharmaceutical sciences by the opinions of my teachers and family members who knew about the career.

Until now I like the option that I chose and I feel so comfortable at the university, it's a unique space of conviavility and besides I have fun with my friends who also like the science.

The kind of job that I want to do is one in which I fill myself with joy to do it and don't have to wake up bitter every week by going to work. I hope to find something like that.

Postgrade Studies

Hello and welcome to another blog, well I really don't think about what I'm gonna do after receive my title (if I finish my career )...
